Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-11-12 18:54:58Well, this morning I put down a deposit on the FezVans replacement. I'll add the car to THRLL once I pick it up on Wednesday. It's a 1997 Jaguar XJ 3.2 straught six auto.
Hope to get this van scrapped later this week!
Should anyone want a rough and ready MOTd & TAXed van with 4 good tyres for £100 and can pick up before Tuesday 20th Nov let me know!
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-11-09 17:53:40So the FezVan may be getting replaced this weekend all being well.
I've got a couple in mind but i'm of to see the first one tomorrow afternoon.
I'll keep it a surprise just incase I don't get the car i'm after but i'll say that it's quite different to this heap of crap!
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-09-11 16:25:35So firstly, for a bit of back story, have a look at the latest update on my Volvos page: http://thrll.com/car/1995-volvo-850-12176.
So i'd broken the Volvo, had my passenger rides, and after lunch got this out on track.
The main runway is about a mile long. I managed to take the last corner onto the runway at about 60mph. By the time I got to the other end of the runway, and the braking point for the right hand bend, i'd managed to get up to about 90mph. As hard as I tried, I couldn't go faster than that!
What I DID manage however, was to scrub about 5 - 6mm of tread off the front right tyre! The budget tyre that was on there really didn't hold up well at all!
Spare wheel on and i'm legal again!
This heap will be used untill I go to the Falkland Islands in November, and will be scrapped when I get back in March / April.
If the Dub hasn't been finished, i'll replace this with something nice. At the moment i'm thinking a nice old Mercedes or a Porsche...
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-08-10 21:34:45The fez has some minor additions. No, unfortunately the pallets are not staying. They were for my garage!
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-05-06 11:23:20Me and a mate attempted to fit the 60mm springs. Got the front wheels off, but discovered that the drop-links are so rusted on they're not going anywhere. So rather than buy drop links, and have to grind the old ones out etc, I just won't bother! :)
I'm tempted, for when the Dub is finished, looking all fresh and clean, to properly rat this, chop the engine bay off, A-frame it, and use it as a trailer.
We'll see what happens nearer the time!
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-05-06 11:16:16Having a van worked brilliantly at Bustypes VW show a couple of weekends ago. Meet "The Kitchen":

Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-04-05 15:32:05Bad news.
The clutch had gone bang and broken the hydraulic slave cylinder. New part ordered and fitted.
Old bolt heads had rounded off to had to lower the front subframe to fix.
It's going back together now. Should be fixed by 6pm.
Someone remind me why I bought this car again?
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-04-05 10:32:53Cars getting fixed. Mechanics both agreed they thought it was just the clutch. It's quite an easy change too as "theres plenty of space in there so no need to remove the engine like on some of these modern cars".
Which must mean less labour (and therefore less cost)! Wooooo
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-04-04 13:30:00So the car is the the garage ready for it to be fixed tomorrow. Yes, I said I was going to do it myself, but i'm really only a novice self-taught mechanic, and to be honest, I really just need my car back.
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-03-28 16:43:29I've bought a new gearbox and a clutch kit for the van. I was tempted to just weigh it in, but I can't be bothered with messing insurance etc.
Pictures when I get round to doing the work.
It sucks being without a car!
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-03-26 16:28:51Right, i'm back from Germany, the Fez will be going up on the raps tomorrow hopefully, try and work out whats actually broken!
Watch this space....
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-03-21 16:29:28Oh it's all fun and games!
Went to pick my mate up from the local train station, only to discover that half way there, my clutch went...
Quick call to the AA, and a recovery later, and the van is back home.
Anyone know how easy it is to change a clutch on one of these?
Former car - no longer own this car19 updates 3 followers 6 mods2012-03-05 18:00:55New springs ordered today...
Need to look at the brakes, theres a vibration when i'm on the pedal, and the front left tyre is very barely legal.
I'll get started with some paint sometime next week...
