I have bought a Del Sol as a second car to keep the Skyline from being a daily. I'm resisting modding her so slowly making her tidier.

9 updates 9 followers 3 mods2012-10-01 14:56:48A little update on the Del Sol, Russ fitted my rocker cover and strutbrace, picture of engine bay before and old rocker cover:
Fitted! Looks a lot cleaner, I need to get the whole engine bay cleaned up to bring out the white paint from all the dirt :)
I went to the tyre shop today to get a tyre replaced after I stupidly ran into a kerb in the dark, luckily the wheel survived! I had the tyre man change the colours of the wheels round too as I wasn't too happy with the orange and blue together (he laughed at me!) and then she had her tracking done :D
Blue and pink now together :)
9 updates 9 followers 3 mods2012-09-17 22:52:06Finally got the Honda back today, Russ brought her round earlier after picking her up from his garage, personally looking at her she doesn't look any lower but I have just looked at the "before" pic and she is but shes not as low as I was expecting so hoping they settle a bit after a few weeks. The garage bill turned out a little more expensive than I thought due to the problems but she goes round corners pretty well now!
Heres a pic of the springs and new bolts and bushes that were needed:
Next were the wheels! I was lucky to have pretty much brand new tyres on the rear standard wheels so will save them until they are needed. I went for the pink and yellow on the driver's side as they were my favourite colours, I put the least favourite colours (well I like the blue) on the car's bad side!
Think they look pretty funky!
9 updates 9 followers 3 mods2012-09-15 16:15:34The boyfriend surprised me last week by posting up photos of the work he did to the Sol, I wasn't a fan of the black wingmirrors or door handles so we got some rattle cans of Polar white and he sprayed them up for me:)
The car needs a proper polish, the colour doesn't quite match but it doesn't look too bad considering! One day I will be able to get her resprayed properly!
Also, this is the last time you will see her this high, she is in the garage having her springs fitted for a 40mm drop, then wheels on, rockercover and strutbrace fitted and headlights fitted too :)
9 updates 9 followers 3 mods2012-09-05 17:50:46Adding to the previous update I also had a rocker cover and a strutbrace on its way to me which I now have :)
My boyfriend offered to sort my strut brace and rocker cover out for me to make the engine bay look a little nicer.
First the strutbrace, decided to go for white in the engine bay as I couldn't decide on a colour and it was easy :)
All primered up:
He even spent ages polishing up the headlights which had a lot of laquer peel on them
One side before:
Other side before:
And then the rocker cover that also went white, was thinking of doing something funky with it like paint splattering but can do that at some point if I fancy it :)
How I received it and then shotblasted:
A few coats of primer:

9 updates 9 followers 3 mods2012-09-02 17:06:57A little update on a few things that have been done on Spermy, first off some one piece headlights to replace the UK two piece ones, these have a bit of laquer peel so they need a good polish up before I get them fitted:
Before a bit of Plastic-X and after which got rid of a little of the laquer peel and yellowing
Yesterday we decided to whip the spoiler off as I prefer the look of Del Sols without, before:
After a clean up of the paint and dirt that was left behind I plugged up the holes with some rubber grommets :D
I bought some Spax lowering springs off of a Del Sol owner on another forum which will bring the Sol down 40mm (not sure if i'll get into my drive after but we'll see)
This will have to be a garage job unfortunately so will get that booked in on my week off in 2 weeks :)
I also bought a white gearknob for her from Tegiwa to replace the standard one and a little keyring which I thought was appropriate :D
Sperm keyring for Spermy :D
Still have the wheels to get on too :)
9 updates 9 followers 3 mods2012-08-12 22:31:08Some of you will have noticed in the picture main picture she has some funny missing laquer thing going on on her bonnet (paint work is pretty shocking all over to be fair) so today after cleaning up the Skyline I spent a quick half hour to see if I could make it look any better, only a rush job mind I had a big bottle of G4 compound which i've used on my cars over the years on a few marks, so I used this first. It ended up a bit patchy so out came the polish and I gave it a good once over personally I think it looks much better, you can still see the part where the laquer still exists (I presume...) but impressed with how it has turned out. I will be polishing the whole car soon as it has brought up the dull matt paint quite well
Some of this picture is shadow of the building and plants around me
Might have to get some pics in better light, for all I know it looks exactly the same!
9 updates 9 followers 3 mods2012-08-06 17:51:48Ok, the wheels I originally bought were sold on as I bought these for the Del Sol yesterday! They may not be to some people's taste but I love them! :D
Once fitted lowering will be next!
9 updates 9 followers 3 mods2012-07-26 20:47:54Just a little update on my cute little Honda!
Getting through replacing broken bits at the moment and changing a few things that cost little pennies :)
First thing on the list was new sunvisors, smoking lady who owned Spermy before stuck her fag in the driver's side visor so I bought some replacements which were JDM Y0!
Next was the indicators, I have swapped the UK spec sticky out ones for flat JDM ones,
Whilst everyone knows there is always things wrong with parts I buy for my cars (receiving a broken aerial and having to fight for a refund, door handles I bought over 2 weeks ago still not showing up) it'd only be right that the guy I bought these off didn't mention they were two passenger side ones so we had to snip off a nubbin of plastic to get the "L" one to fit the driver's side!
And then with the help of Russ I decided that I wanted to spray the "H" badges satin black to freshen them up a bit!
Only little things, I was hoping the interior door handles would have turned up but still no show :( next is refurbing the wheels I have for her :D
9 updates 9 followers 3 mods2012-07-03 17:42:11Ok, so this isn't going to be much of a project as she is only supposed to be my daily but I am finding it hard to resist doing her up! I thought it would be nice to track the little things I am doing to her to get her looking good again. She is called Spermy because people say Del Sols look like tadpoles and being white she is a sperm
I was on the look out for a Del Sol to keep the Skyline from being a daily, ideally I was after an esi for cheapness and I ended up going to view a little cheap white one in Milton Keynes. Once I saw the car I then realised why they had taken the photos at funny angles, she is a bit tatty and wonky but I got her at a good price and drove her home the next day. Shes pretty nippy considering she is an esi and I spend quite a bit of time stalling her as she needs more revs than the Skyline
Got her home and gave her a good clean and assessed what needed doing, despite her looks she is running well and the interior is very clean apart from a tear on the driver's seat bolster. She has been keyed down the passenger side, has taken a bump to the front meaning her bumper is wonky and one of her lights has been pushed in and the rust is pushing her back bumper off. So far we have taken her Union Jack and GB sticker off the back cleaned a lot of moss off and cleaned up the interior. She needs a new aerial at the moment, the numberplate has been smashed and there isn't much laquer left on the bonnet.
Here are a few pics of her after the clean:
Things I have done so far:
Resprayed silver tatty wiper arms satin black
New handbrake and gearstick gaitors:
New numberplates - rear and front
Brand new stereo (to replace the tape player!)
5 spoke 15inch wheels which we will be refurbing as cheap as possible
New windscreen wipers (smoooooth)
New brake light bulb
Destickered (apart from badges)
New heater control knob
Fixed the centre consol lid
Things I really want to do...
Straighten out the front bumper
One piece headlights
Fix interior door handle
Flat side indicators
Lower a little
Engine bay steam clean
Paint rocker cover
Spruce up the wheels
New driver's seat back
Vinyl wrap (maybe...)
So there you have it, not going to go mad with her just want her looking tidy :)
